Bill Aulet, Director of the Martin Trust Center for Entrepreneurship at MIT, distinguishes between two types of enterprises when discussing entrepreneurship, SMEs (small to medium sized enterprises) and the IDEs (innovation-driven enterprises). Each requires a different approach. The former are small companies that will stay mall while the latter are global and have exponential growth, lots of capital, and a competitive advantage over SMEs.
