Sarasota’s Buzz Prize Expo

Held Friday, November 6th at the Baltimore Orioles’ Sarasota home, Ed Smith Stadium, the first Buzz Prize Expo was a roaring success.  One day of exhibitors, breakout sessions, and hundreds of attendees, it was a great opportunity for small business to connect, market their wares, and for new entrepreneurs to learn.  home-page-buzzprize-clickthruWith the end goal of influencing investment on the Gulf Coast of Florida, the day culminated in a live pitch contest between several worthy startup businesses. More on the winner at http://theeconomicbuzz.com.  Breakout sessions included details of crowdfunding from Alon Hillel-Tuch, Founder of RocketHub.com, entrepreneurship tools from Clint Day, Using Women’s Intuiton to Better Manage from Joanne Keenan-Fabec.  The event was the inaugural convention by the Economic Buzz, a digital media and event company based in Sarasota.  The Buzz connects civic organizations, institutions, and companies working to grow the Gulf Coast economy.

The day was capped off by cocktails and an award ceremony featuring former U. S. Senator Gordon Smith, President of the NAB, National Association of Broadcasters and CEO of Smith Frozen Foods, who received the Buzz Prize Person-of-the-Year award.  The Buzz also announced awards to the YEA, Young Entrepreneurs Academy, and Project S.
